Vintage Victorian Wedding Gown

(Item #T109)

Sold

From an estate collection, comes this fabulous Vintage Victorian style ivory Wedding Gown. Simply stunning! This gown was made for a very petite woman. There are no labels in the inside. Probably circa WWII time-frame. The dress is extraordinarily beautiful with an abundance of delicate machined (nylon) lace on a very fine tulle ground. The edges are scalloped. It is shown with a long white slip on underneath. It features a high neckline with wire support to keep it upright. The train is very long!

Measurements: Approximately Size "0". The model shown wearing this gown is a size "0". It measures 18" across the bustline from one underarm seam to the other. 14 1/2" from one shoulder seam to the other. The neck is 15" in circumference. The sleeves are 16 3/4" from the underarm seam to the wrist. The lace portion across the front of the waist under the darts is 11" across, not including the ivory fabric on the sides. The bottom hemline of the dress is approximately 143". It measures 89" from the bottom of the hem to the last button on the back of the dress. From the last button to the neckline, it measures 20", making this dress over 109" in total length.

Condition: It has been extremely well preserved with only very minor staining that should come out with a light cleaning. (One tiny spot of lipstick on a button, and one on the dress) There are also some light stains under the arms and extremely minor stray marks here and there. Nothing distracting. There is a small (less than 1") rip to the tulle under an arm, a single missing covered button on one sleeve, and a little bit of loose tulle on the base hemline. There is an 8" section where the tulle has separated from the ivory (acetate?) fabric but it is not damaged and can easily be sewn back. Near that is a 1 1/2" long section that has a rip. With the extensive lace hemline, you will never notice this area. All areas can easily be mended.

If you're looking for a unique dress for your own wedding or for display, this is stunning. My model tried to convince her husband to have a second wedding ceremony after she tried this gorgeous gown on. (It was a perfect fit!) It is one of those Victorian style dresses that is elegant, yet simple. Easy to wear, and to put on. The back unbuttons all the way so that you can step right into it. This comes to you straight from the estate. I have not tried to clean or restore it. Its overall condition is remarkably fine. I have lots more photos of this dress and will be happy to provide them upon request.
