Vintage Victorian/Edwardian Style Crocheted Lace & Toile Wedding Gown

(Item #T112)

Price: $250

Vintage Victorian Style Ivory Wedding Gown. This is made with an abundance of crotcheted lace and toile. There is an incredible amount of detail in the design of this dress. It is made completely of toile/lace, no fabric apart from the 18 fabric covered buttons in the back! The sleeve cuffs and hemline are finished with what I believe is bobbin lace. The lace and toile are arranged in such a way that they form a series of "V" rows in the back, followed by additional pin tucks all the way around and then rows of lace alternating with rows of toile. Detail Detail Detail! The dress has full length sleeves, each with over 30 pin tuck seams. It is floor length, and has a tall, lacey neckline. This must be worn with a full slip beneath. It is very dainty. I will be happy to provide any additional photos should you request.

Approximate Measurements: The model wearing this dress is a size "0". Waist: 20" Bust: 36" Measured under sleeves, all the way around Dress Length: Approx. 58". Sleeve Length: From shoulder seam, approx. 23" Approximate US size 0, or slightly smaller. Model is unable to fully button up the back. If you plan to wear this, please take your exact measurements and let me know. I can provide any additional measurements necessary.

Condition: Overall, I'd say that this is in quite good condition. It requires a professional cleaning, and minimal restoration. There are two brown spots, one on each shoulder/upper arm area and a little bit of faint brown spots here an there on the gown. One of the collar supports is loose and just needs a stitch or two to keep it in place. There is are a couple of very small sections of crocheted lace that have separated from the toile in the middle/back area that could use a little mending. This should be quite easy to remedy. I've looked this dress over very carefully, and most of the lace is in tact and attached. No other rips or tears.

If you collect antique/vintage textiles, this would make a splendid addition to your collection. It would look stunning on your dress form in your home or shop. It has a wonderful look! It is fragile, but not so fragile that it couldn't be worn, if you are lucky enough to be that tiny! It probably belongs in a textile museum though.
