A beautiful rendition of the famous Madonna Della Sedia after Raphael, handpainted on porcelain. This piece is very old, probably circa 1910-1920 if not older. I originally purchased this at a local Boston area estate auction where the owners had quite a substantial collection of valuable antiques. I have not removed it from the frame to inspect it because it is so nicely framed. The frame is a delicately carved Black Forest Walnut. It has an easel back and stands up nicely in a plate rail in your curio. The hinge does need some work because it is quite loose, so it needs some support. This can also be hung through the loop in the wood at the top. There are four small nail holes on the back of the frame that are probably the original ones, and four tiny nail heads near them. The frame has some tiny nicks to the leaves and I have left them as found. These can easily be touched up. This is such a wonderful combination, it's a hard one to part with. The painting is very detailed and vibrant. The frame measures 6 3/4" in height x 4 3/8" in width. The visible portion of the oval portrait painting measures 3" x 2 1/8" .
