Darling old carved walnut Jewelry Box. This came from a very old estate and was sold at auction, along side the precious contents! I estimate it to be circa early 19th. C. The box opens to reveal several small compartments covered with marbled paper. It is embellished with a facade of carved floral motifs and applied brass adornments. The jewelry dresser has a serpentine front and is footed. There is a pin cushion made of satin on the lid, which housed stick pins. It is tattered and worn, but can easily be replaced. Minor damage to wood on one back base edge/corner. One replacement "foot". We've left it as found. The hinges are all original and in very good condition. The box opens and closes nicely. Original escutcheon lock but key is missing. No maker's marks found.Free Domestic Shipping!
