Here is a nice old Chinese bronze covered box with ornamental applied metal work and jade inlays in the design. There are three bands of beautiful champleve work with symbolic designs throughout. The jar has nicely sclulpted sides and is sitting on a raised square platform. It measures approximately 4 1/2" in height, not including the replacement finial. The base measures 2 3/4" square. It is impressed CHINA on the base. This does have a small amount of loss to the design where three of the applied metal leaves are missing. (One on the lid, and two on one side of the box.) With all of the ornamental design, this is not immediately noticeable. Otherwise, the jar is in fine condition. I've seen some of these older champleve works with glass, marble like finials, but I do not know if this is original to the piece or not. This is the way we aquired it. I love the look and feel of this jar. Besides its obvious aesthetic appeal, it has a good weight to it, and the cover fits on very nicely.Free Domestic Shipping!
