Antique bronze two handled ikebana vase. Japanesque style with silver inlaid cranes on a red mottled ground, possibly a mottled oil drop patina, c. 1880. Three cranes are flying against a setting sun, over waves beneath. (The lines you see in the photo are part of the decoration, and not scratches). The vase has very angular shoulder handles, and a fancy footed bronze base. It measures 9 1/2" in height and approx. 8" across from handle to handle. The base width is 6". No dents or unusual wear. No signature found. There has been an early repair to the footed base, as shown. There is some very minor corrosion on the base seam, where water will slowly drip out. You will need to use a vase insert inside this piece for your live floral display. A nice piece. This weighs over 4 pounds (unpacked).Free Domestic Shipping!
