This is a darling older Staffordshire porcelain figurine, or fairing. So whimsical! The jester-like figure is carrying two babies in swaddling in a bag in the front and his cap doubles as a basket to hold two babies in swaddling in the back. Very colorfully decorated with extraordinary detail. It measures 3 5/8" in height. The base is hand incised with the numbers 2324, and 224. It is also numbered 711 in black hand writing. It's probably a German piece. Unfortunately, one of the babies in the back is snapped off and the part is missing. Otherwise, this piece is in excellent condition. A very unusual older example.
