Here is an old tooled leather photo album, filled with studio photographs of men, women, and children. There are some interesting photos, showing the jewelry and attire of the late 19th century. In total, there are 74 photos, (11 photos measure approx. 6 1/2 x 4 1/4" mounted, and 63 photos measure 4" x 2 1/2"). The album itself measures 10 1/2" x 8 1/2" x 2 3/4". The photos themselves are in good condition. The front cover is signed Elizabeth A. Chisnall, Newburyport Mass June 2nd 1881. The album is in tact, but the back cover shows a lot of wear and tear, and is missing the spine. (The front cover is in good condition, so it's a good candidate for alternative use, or repair work). The pages are brittle and have some wear/tear. The album has a brass clasp, albeit a little bent, and gold gilt pages. All of the photos were from J.M. Chase, Photographer, 39 State Street, Newburyort, Mass. If you collect victorian jewelry or costumes, this album is filled with wonderful examples from that era.
