Rare German Illustrated Anatomy Book

This is a rare old German Anatomy/Medical Book by M. Platen who won the highest distinction award in 1902 at the London Grand Prix for his previous volumes. I believe this volume is circa 1903. (There is a signed letter in the back sleeve from the K.K. Polizei Direction in Vienna, dated March, 1903). Presumably, this letter granted some sort of authorization to the publishers. This particular book is Supplemental/Vol 3 and is a sample volume, not meant for resale. I think it was a copy given to a University in Vienna. It is entitled Die Neue Heilmethode (or the New Healing Method) by M. Platen. Published by Deutsches Verlagshaus Bong & Co. Berlin, Leipzig, Wien, Stuttgart. It has a pull out table of contents, and several color illustrations as well as die cut pull outs. There is an additional separate supplement in the back with more illustrations. There are several black and white illustrations embedded in the text, 24 color chromo pages, and several anatomical models. The text is written in German. The entire book is encapsulated in the brown leather brief binder. (9" x 6 1/4" x 1 1/2" thick). Some of the illustrations are brittle, and loose, especially where the heads/legs meet the page edges. The pieces are all there, some are just not attached. The pages have an all over brown toning, but no foxing, rips or writing. Some of the illustrations in the front have some light foxing. All in all, the book is in good condition for its turn of the century age. This is an interesting old book that deserves its space in any cherished collection.
