Old Original Kunisada Woodblock Print (Item #A108) Sold Old original "kochoro" Kunisada Woodblock Print. (1786-1864) aka Toyokuni III. This depicts a courtesan (possibly oiran) performing under a cherry tree in the yard of a tea house. The print measures 9 3/4" x 14 1/4". There are some light small tears on the paper edges as shown and a small discolored spot to paper on right edge near her outstretched hand and a minute tear in the paper near the "Ko" character on the bottom right edge. I've photographed this print from the reverse side so that you can see that it is an original woodblock. The colors are slightly faded, as is the paper. Scarcely visible is a light horizontal centerfold mark. The signature on this print looks like the style he used in 1835. Publisher (or censor) seal appears to read "Edo Hon Sen Ichi". This is one of two prints that we aquired from the same collection/era. The other is being offered separately, and is still in its frame. This print is being offered with the matting it was framed in, and will ship flat unless you request otherwise. We Offer Free Domestic Shipping On All Items! |
