Here's a wonderful old framed Paxton Botanical orchid print, Mr. Mackay's Zygopetalon or "Zygopetalon Mackaii". This is an original print from the hand colored lithograph by Joseph Paxton, (1803-1865). The print is listed in Paxton's Magazine of Botany and Register of Flowering Plants (Vols. I - V). The front of the print is dated June 1836 and printed by Holden del. Smith. The print itself measures 6 1/4" x 9", with the matting it measures 11" x 14" and framed it measures 12 1/2" x 15 3/4". The matting is matte black with gold hand drawn accent lines. The frame is gold gilt gesso and shows normal wear, especially to the corners. The detail is very classic.
