Charles Parker Slag Glass Lamp (Item #L109) Price Upon Request For your consideration is an original Antique Art Nouveau slag glass lamp by Charles Parker Co. It is in magnificent, original condition. (The Charles Parker Company was assigned at least thirty-nine lighting-related patents between June 12, 1860 and July 6, 1897. In 1931, Parker stopped producing its line of lamps and in 1940, they acquired the Bradley & Hubbard Manufacturing Company). This lamp is at least early 1900's and represents an important part of lighting history. It measures approx. 22" tall with a shade diameter of approx. 16 1/2". We've owned this for quite a while and now we'd like to pass on the treasure for someone else to enjoy. The base is a bronze patinated cast metal with typical flowing Art Nouveau designs. This appears to be all original, no damage or repairs. A beautiful, unpolished patina on the base. Upon close inspection, you can see a little bit of flaking to the original patination, but nothing distracting. I mention this only for accuracy. The lamp has two pull chain bulb sockets marked Weber Co. The slag glass sections are curved to fit flush in the dome shade. The glass is beautifully marbled and exudes a wonderful, warm lighting tone to your room. The entire lamp is quite heavy. As always, with the older lamps, we would strongly recommend having this professionally rewired. It appears to have its original cloth wiring in the bulb socket, but the cord itself may have been replaced over the years. Large lamps like this, especially in this magnificent condition, are becoming more and more rare so don't miss out on this opportunity.Free Domestic Shipping! |
